for drawing & painting
Turn reference photos into print-ready sheets.
Drop in your photos. Artistica packs them onto pages at a good drawing size, with crop marks and bleed, and can add studies and composition lines. Then print, cut and draw.

How it works
Three steps, under a minute.
-

Upload, drag in, paste, or use a link. JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF and iPhone HEIC.
-
Pick your paper
A4, Letter and more. Artistica finds a layout with the fewest pages and the biggest images.
-

Made to help you see
-
Smart packing
Sizes each photo for drawing, never past what its pixels allow at 300 DPI.
-
Crop marks and bleed
Printer-style marks, optional bleed, and a safe area, so cutting is easy.
-
Blur and value studies
Print a blurred version, a value study with 2 to 20 values in a hue you pick, or both, next to the original.
-
Composition lines
Grid, rule of thirds, diagonals and armature, golden ratio, golden spiral and centre lines, in your colour and thickness.
-
Guides from the photo
Trace an edge outline, or add face construction lines and pose lines that follow the person in it.
-
Presets
Save your page setup, studies and lines under a name, then apply them to all your photos in one go.
-
Edit and arrange by hand
Crop, rotate, flip, print copies or fix an exact size, then move, resize and swap photos on the page, with undo.

Questions
Is it free?
Yes. Free and open source (MIT).
Will my prints be the right size?
Yes, if you print at 100% (“Actual size”). Pages are made at the exact paper size you pick.
Why won't an image link work?
Some sites block other apps from reading their images. Download the image and upload it instead.
What do “bleed” and “crop marks” mean?
Crop marks show where to cut. Bleed prints a little extra past the cut, so a slightly-off cut leaves no white edge.
Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything runs in your browser. Photos are never uploaded or saved, and refreshing the page clears them.
What finds the face and pose guides?
Face and pose guides use Google's MediaPipe models, downloaded from this site and run on your device.
Can I use it offline?
Yes, after your first visit to the app. Face and pose guides work offline after their one-time download.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes: latest Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on desktop, iPhone and Android.
